YEREVAN, February 21. /ARKA/. Technical and economic feasibility study for construction of North-South energy corridor is expected to be ready in the second half of 2017, Russia Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Tuesday. The corridor will connect Russia, Georgia, Armenia and Iran.
According to FAN TV, Novak said the project has been discussed with his Iranian counterpart in recent days.
The North-South energy corridor roadmap was signed by Armenian, Russian, Iranian and Georgian energy ministers in April 2016.
The roadmap formalizes steps to be taken before the launch of the 1000-megawatt North-South energy corridor in 2019.
Construction of an electric power line between Armenia and Iran and another power line between Armenia and Georgia is already under way as part of the project.
The project will allow all the four countries’ energy networks to work in a synchronous mode with 1,200-megawatt capacity. --0---
