Salmonella and mold: violations found in products of three Yerevan meat processing plants

YEREVAN, July 10: /ARKA/. The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia reported violations found during quality monitoring of products from three meat processing plants in Yerevan.

Inspectors sent samples from the Babik-90 meat processing plant, a DG brand, for laboratory testing. Of the samples tested, only one type of product, "chilled ham" with a production date of 06/29/2025, was found to be non-compliant with the technical regulations of the Customs Union regarding the number of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms (MAFAnmK).

Production of the ham has been suspended, and the cooperative has been given a deadline to eliminate the identified violations and destroy this type of product.

An inspection was also carried out at the Arm Meat LLC meat-packing plant. Laboratory tests of ARMENIA MEETFOOD brand samples revealed mold and Salmonella in "frozen chopped cutlets" (production date: 06/22/2025) and "premium ham" (production date: 06/29/2025), as well as an excess of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms.

Production of these products has been suspended, and the manufacturer has been ordered to recall and destroy the low-quality goods from the market.

Monitoring was conducted at the Meat Food LLC sausage shop. Laboratory examination revealed an excess of sodium nitrite in the "semi-smoked sausage 'Krakovskaya'" of the Meat Food brand. The release of this product is prohibited until the violations are eliminated. The manufacturer has been ordered to recall and destroy the product.-0-
