YEREVAN, January 9. /ARKA/.  A government-approved set of measures designed to record and number the cattle in Armenia is to be completed in February 2023, the Economy Ministry said today.

Since November 12, 2022 when the program was launched, some 200,000 cattle have been recorded and numbered. The goal is to have a complete inventory of cattle, information about their location, movement, delivery of veterinary services. It also greatly facilitates control over the possible spread of diseases.

The bulk of the work is done by veterinarians who have completed special training courses. Farmers do not bear any costs.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who visited the ministry today to hear a report on its 2022 performance, was told about intensive horticulture projects, rural insurance program and the planned certification of seedlings.

The prime minister stressed the importance of expanding access to pastures, saying an inventory of existing problems and ways to resolve them should be implemented. -0-
