YERVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. Armenian taxation authorities collected last year about 650 billion drams in revenues, which represents a 10% increase from 2010, a statement on the official website of the State Revenue Committee, said quoting head of the agency Gagik Khachatrian.

According to him, tax revenue amounted to 370 billion drams, a 32 billion drams or 9.8% increase from the previous year.

"With regard to compulsory social security payments, we collected 123 billion drams, by 18 billion drams or 6.8% more than in 2010. Proceeds from customs duties amounted to 280 billion drams, which is 24.6 billion drams or 9.6% more than in 2010," Khachatrian was quoted as saying.

It is indicative that the share of direct taxes in tax revenues in 2011 increased to 48% of all taxes. Khachatrian attributed it to the improved taxation administration. According to him, the agency was able to implement large-scale modernization of existing tax supervision mechanisms, improve the quality of services for taxpayers, as well as reduce the time required for processing of customs documents. -0-
