South Caucasus Railway signs agreement with Russian FPC in Yerevan

The South Caucasus Railway (SCR) closed joint stock company and the Federal Passenger Company (FPC) signed an agreement about cooperation in Yerevan on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, March 4. /ARKA/. The South Caucasus Railway (SCR) closed joint stock company and the Federal Passenger Company (FPC) signed an agreement about cooperation in Yerevan on Wednesday. 

The agreement was signed by general director of the SCR Victor Rebets and deputy general director of the Federal Passenger Company Oleg Nikitin. 

Rebets said the Federal Passenger Company is the CIS leader in passenger transportation, and the SCR aims at obtaining experience in modern approaches from them. 

As part of the cooperation, from now tickets to any train destination in Russia can be obtained in Armenia, he said. 

Rebets also said the aim of the agreement is to further improve the standard of SCR’s services. The cooperation expands also the opportunities of joint training courses. 

Nikitin, in his turn, said such agreements produce actual economic results, introduction of new tools to enhance transportation, better level of service and expansion of sales in particular. 

South Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway, which was handed over to the South Caucasus Railway on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years. 

The Federal passenger Company is a subsidiary of the Russian railways for remote destinations. The company has been economically independent since April 1, 2010. –0—
