Tension escalation in Karabakh has no impacts on investment confidence in Armenia so far - WB

The World Bank today sees no impacts from things on Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact line on investment confidence indicators in Armenia, Laura E. Bailey, the WB Country Manager for Armenia, told journalists on Thursday.

YEREVAN, April 28. /ARKA/. The World Bank today sees no impacts from things on Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact line on investment confidence indicators in Armenia, Laura E. Bailey, the WB Country Manager for Armenia, told journalists on Thursday. 

She said that the World Bank’s experience in other countries shows that as a rule, long-lasting similar developments affect general confidence impacting direct foreign investments.  

On April 2, 2016 Azerbaijan launched military assaults along the entire perimeter of its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh. 

A ceasefire arrangement was announced four days later, but the Azerbaijani side violates it every night.
Bailey voiced a deep regret over escalation of tension in Karabakh expressing sympathy to Armenian families and communities in troubles. 

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, about AMD 123.6 billion came to Armenia in 2015 as net foreign investments received not through banks and without state administration against AMD 167.4 billion in 2014. 

Direct foreign investments totaled AMD 70.4 billion in 2015 against AMD 117.2 billion in 2014. ($1 – AMD 479.38). --0---
