YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will allocate 8.43 billion drams (approximately $22 million) to finance the construction of the Kajaran-Agarak section of the North-South road corridor. Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Armen Simonyan presented a budget redistribution plan for these purposes at a government meeting on Thursday.

"The project plans to allocate 8.4 billion drams to finance the construction of the 32-kilometer Kajaran-Agarak section of the road (Tranche 4) as part of the North-South road corridor investment program," Simonyan said.

He added that 22 million drams are planned for the construction of the northern section of the Sisian-Kajaran highway, and 8.7 million drams for the safety assessment of the Bargushat tunnel project on the Sisian-Qajaran highway.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, for his part, noted that "the North-South project is beginning to crystallize before our eyes and become tangible."

"In fact, the Yerevan-Gyumri road will be fully ready this year, and the equipment, marking, and sign installation work will be completed in the spring. However, it is already fully ready for traffic today," he stated.

When asked by the Prime Minister to clarify the situation, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan said that preparatory work is also underway on the Sisian-Kajaran section. "Work on this North-South road will be completed in 2027," he said.
