YEREVAN, May 24. /ARKA/. There is money in Armenia, but it is not where it should be, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday in response to Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan’s comment.
Pashinyan’s remarks came at a discussion in the government of a proposal to grant amnesty to motorists for violations of traffic rules. The finance minister argued that this and similar issues should be considered in the context of their potential impact on the government’s revenues, so that they do not affect the government spending.
"We have set a task for the State Revenue Committee to significantly increase the collection of revenue ."There is a huge shadow economy in Armenia, and the relevant bodies must work to bring it to the net . There is money, simply it is not where it should be," said Pashinyan.
He stressed that the State Revenue Committee, the National Security Service, the Police, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Special Investigative Service should provide appropriate steps in this regard, otherwise relevant conclusions will be drawn.
The Armenian police made a proposal to amnesty the violators of traffic rules in the amount of 13.7 billion drams ($28.4 million) the day before. In particular, it is proposed that all breaches of road rules committed in the period from 01.01.2012 to 31.12.2017 be forgiven. -0-
