YEREVAN, September 30. /ARKA/. In Q1, the unemployment rate declined to 14 percent, down from 15.5 percent in Q1 2024, while the employment and labor force participation rates stood at 50.1 percent and 58.2 percent, respectively, according to the World Bank's "Armenia Monthly Economic Update – September 2025."

At the end of December 2024, the Armenian government approved the Employment Strategy for 2025-2031, the main goal of which is to combat unemployment. As then-Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan noted, the study shows that a portion of the potentially employable population is uncompetitive and lacks the skills necessary to meet the needs of the modern labor market.

The strategy's target group includes residents of regional cities, young people who are not studying or working, women aged 30-39, and recipients of family and social benefits.

As previously stated by Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, the authorities plan to reduce the unemployment rate to less than 10%.-0-
