Unemployment rate across Eurasian economic union in 2015 January was 5.6%

The unemployment rate across the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia) in January 2015, calculated by using the ILO methodology, was 5.6% of the economically active population, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said in a statement placed on its official website.

YEREVAN, March 10. / ARKA /. The unemployment rate across the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia) in January 2015, calculated by using the ILO methodology, was 5.6% of the economically active population, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said in a statement placed on its official website.

According to the latest available data, the unemployment level in Armenia in the third quarter of 2014 was 17.1%. In Kazakhstan in January 2015 it was 5.0%. In Russia in January 2015 the unemployment rate was 5.5%.

For comparison, the unemployment rate in the European Union in December 2014 was 9.9% and 5.7% in the US in January 2015.

The unemployment rate calculated based on the number of unemployed people registered with employment services was 0.7% in Belarus in January 2015, 0.5% in Kazakhstan and 1.2% in Russia. 

Overall, the officially registered unemployment rate in the Russia-led trade bloc was 1.2% of the economically active population.

According to Armenia’s State Employment Service, the unemployment rate in 2014 was 17.9%. Armenia became a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union on January 1, 2015.-0-
