YEREVAN, September 7. /ARKA/. Armenian State Food Safety Service has found violations of standards in the domestic dairy industry, Abram Bakhchagulyan, head of the service, said Thursday at a regular Cabinet meeting.
He said that the service examined products of more than ten companies and found soda and vegetable oil in some of them.
It has become clear after the examination that Ani Kat, Biokat, Dustr Marianna, Arzni, the farm that raises pedigree fowl, cattle and pigs, Ashtarak Kat, Tamara and Multi Agro add soda to milk to extend their products shelf life.
These companies say that soda is added to milk by companies which purchase row milk, but Bakhchagulyan said that examination of raw milk revealed no presence of soda.
He said that such violations entail AMD 300,000 to AMD 500,000 fines. He also said that Arzni farm put vegetable oil in sour milk in a clear breach of the food safety law.
Ani Kat, Dustr Marianna and Multi Agro’s sour milk contain milk powder.
Usage of milk powder is not prohibited by the law, but companies ought to inform consumers about that. Sour milk is mentioned among ingredients of Ani Kat and Dustr Marianna’s sour milk.
Bakhchagulyan said that cheese-producing companies will be under the agency’s scrutiny as well. There are about 100 cheese-producing companies in Armenia. -0--
