"As part of the investment program for the acquisition of electric buses, an international tender was held with the participation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). A consulting company has been engaged and is already working on preparing the necessary documentation," Babayan noted at a working meeting at the City Hall on Monday.
According to her, the results of the consultations are planned to be summarized in May 2026. "We hope that by that time all the necessary documents will be ready to begin negotiations on the loan program, as well as on the program submitted to the Public Investment Committee, if approved." "If an agreement is reached with the government, procurement processes could also begin in 2026," Babayan said.
It was previously reported that the Yerevan Municipality plans to purchase 250 new electric buses, replacing HIGER buses and GAZelle-City minibuses. The program's financial package is estimated at approximately 98 billion drams and will be implemented with a loan from the Asian Development Bank. ($1 = 381.77 drams).
