Yerevan's largest park to be built in northern part
YEREVAN, December 16. /ARKA/. A new city park will be created on an area of about 30 hectares adjacent to Myasnikyan Avenue and Lvovyan Street, said Armen Begoyan, director of the “Greening and Environmental Protection State” Non-Commercial Organization, on Monday.
According to him, last spring, work was already carried out to demolish illegal buildings on part of the land, and these areas were returned to the community. “However, there are still 36 seized plots of land with cottages. A small number of fruit trees also grow on the site, and they will be preserved. The remaining dry ones will be removed,” Begoyan said at a meeting at the mayor's office.
The park will be the fifth and largest in Yerevan, featuring a bike path, a sports area, an artificial lake, an amphitheater, and an eco-cafe.
After the plan is approved, design work will begin, and once the seized territories are cleared, construction will start, taking about two years.
