Yerevan and Abu Dhabi discuss expansion of ties

The second session of Armenia-UAE joint intergovernmental commission was held in Abu Dhabi on May 21. The commission is co-chaired by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and UAE Minister of State Ahmad Ali-Al-Sayeh.

YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. The second session of Armenia-UAE joint intergovernmental commission was held in Abu Dhabi on May 21. The commission is co-chaired by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and UAE Minister of State Ahmad Ali-Al-Sayeh.

Papoyan was quoted by his press office as saying that Armenia considers the UAE as the most important partner among the Gulf countries for deepening trade-economic and investment cooperation.

During the session, the sides discussed the strengthening of trade-economic ties , as well as issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the spheres of energy, high technologies, agriculture, digitalization, healthcare, as well as trans-regional and other spheres..

The first session of the Armenia-UAE intergovernmental commission was held on May 2, 2019 in Yerevan.

The UAE is one of Armenia's top three trade partners. According to the National Statistical Committee, the trade turnover between the countries totaled $2.1 billion in the first quarter of this year, increasing 6.9 times compared to January-March last year.

Armenian exports exceeded $2 billion with a 7.1-fold growth, while the volume of imports decreased by 12.1% to $121.2 million. -0-
