Contract serviceman dies at Armenian military unit

Armenia’s military prosecutors have instituted a criminal case on the death of a contract serviceman, Narek Hakobyan, born in 1986, who died today at a military unit in the southern Vayots Dzor province, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee.
YEREVAN, April 21. /ARKA/. Armenia’s military prosecutors have instituted a criminal case on the death of a contract serviceman, Narek Hakobyan, born in 1986, who died today at a military unit in the southern Vayots Dzor province, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee.
Narek Hakobyan is said to have received a wound incompatible with life on April 21 at about 10:25 during a camp gathering in Vayots Dzor province. He was wounded as a result of a gunshot fired by a contract junior sergeant, who violated the rules for handling weapons.
The criminal case has been opened under part 3 of article 373 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The necessary investigative measures are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, objective and full investigation of all circumstances of the serviceman's death, the Investigative Committee said. -0-
