YEREVAN, August 14. /ARKA/. Eleven people were killed in a road accident on Yerevan-Gyumri Highway, Armenia’s Rescue Service said.

The accident occurred on August 14, at about 00:30 on Yerevan-Gyumri highway near the village of Lanjik.

A Volkswagen minibus and a ZIL truck collided at the 90th kilometer of the road. As a result of the accident, 11 people were killed and 6 others injured. They were hospitalized at the Gyumri Medical Center. One of them was later transported to Erebuni Medical Center in Yerevan.

According to Azatutyun Radio, the minibus passengers were returning from Turkey, where they were traveling through historical Western Armenia.

The press secretary of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Gor Abrahamyan said criminal proceedings were initiated under a Criminal Code article. -0-
