Vayots Dzor governor resigns - daily

Trdat Sargsyan, governor of Armenia's Vayots Dzor province, submitted yesterday his resignation to the territorial administration and infrastructures ministry, Armine Melkonyan, press secretary of the minister, told Haykakan Zhamanak.
YEREVAN, October 8. /ARKA/. Trdat Sargsyan, governor of Armenia's Vayots Dzor province, submitted yesterday his resignation to the territorial administration and infrastructures ministry, Armine Melkonyan, press secretary of the minister, told Haykakan Zhamanak.
She said that the resignation motion will be sent to the prime minister's staff in accordance with the regulations.
On September 18, an officer at one of the Armenian defense ministry's military units was brought to a hospital when he was unconscious. The officer underwent a surgery, and a charge was brought against the governor's assistant Harutyun Grigoryan and his brother Zaven Grigoryan.
Governor Trdat Sargsyan reported on his page in Facebook that he intended to resign. He also reported that he had been at home at the moment of the incident and that he has provided evidence confirming his statement.
"I am convinced that an objective investigation will be carried out and all offenders will be punished," he wrote adding that any way he decided to resign. -0---
