YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. Armenia is discussing the construction of a new nuclear power plant with Russia and other international partners, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on April 1.

"We are also cooperating with Russia in the energy sector, where we traditionally have strong ties. We are currently working very closely with the Russian side on the development of new technologies, particularly energy technologies – solar energy and other areas are actively developing in Armenia," Pashinyan said.

According to him, Yerevan is discussing the construction of a new nuclear power plant with Moscow and is also negotiating with other partners.

"We are completely transparent about these matters and make no secret of the fact that we are discussing them not only with Russian partners but also with other partners, as we seek the most advantageous offer for the Republic of Armenia," the Prime Minister noted.

Armenian authorities previously announced that they had already selected the type of nuclear power plant—a modular one—and that the specific model would be determined in 2026 or early 2027.
