YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. Armenia views itself as a bridge, not an obstacle, to the connection between Azerbaijan and Turkey, said Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, commenting on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statement.

On January 7, Azerbaijani President Aliyev, in an interview with several local media outlets, stated that Azerbaijan seeks peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus and that "Armenia should not hinder us, should not be a geopolitical obstacle between Turkey and Azerbaijan."

"Armenia does not want, nor is it preparing, to be an obstacle. We live in the 21st century, where all countries want to establish relations, engage in trade, and facilitate movement with other countries. We are also interested in this development and do not wish to be an obstacle. We want to be a bridge," Mirzoyan said during a press conference on Wednesday.

He also emphasized that Armenia aims to serve as a link not only for countries in its region but also for more distant nations, offering, for example, diplomatic services.
