YEREVAN, July 29. /ARKA/. Armenian and Polish specialists will jointly solve the problems of pesticides in the country, said Armenian Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan during the discussion of risk reduction of natural disasters in Armenia.
“Yesterday we had a meeting with our colleagues from Poland who were concerned with the problem of pesticides, particularly Nubarashen waste burial of pesticides. We agreed on the conduction of joint activities. We also agreed on cooperation in solving the problems of tailing dumps in Alaverdi and other regions and directions ,”, said Yeritsyan.
Currently, there is about 512 tons of pesticides in Nubarashen waste burial, of which over 300 tons is chlorine-organic stable material which should be eliminated.
However, recently the waste burial has become dangerous and for the nearest villages. For this purpose the government has planned to suspend it in the first phase of joint work. In May 2010, Government of Armenia allocated 31.6 million drams (over 80 thousand dollars) for isolation of Nubarashen waste burial of pesticides and lay a drainage system. --0--
