Medvedev and Sargsyan had a telephone conversation with the president of Turkey
YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. Presidents of Armenia and Russia Serzh Sargsyan and Dmitri Medvedev had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkey Abdullah Gul during the interval between the negotiations, press-service of the Armenian President’s Office informed “ARKA” News Agency on Monday.
Presidents of both countries expressed their condolences and support to the President of Turkey in connection with the earthquake in the territory of Turkey.
Sargsyan once again expressed willingness of Armenia to provide necessary assistance to Turkey.
Gul thanked the President of Armenia for the solidarity.
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan being in Moscow with an official visit sent yesterday a telegram of condolences to the President of Turkey Abdullah Gul in connection with the earthquake which took place in the territory of Turkey.
On Sunday at 15:41 local time (14:41 Moscow time) near the Turkish city Van was an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 and the power of 9-10 points in epicenter. It was followed by eight aftershocks with a force of 7-8 points in epicenter zone.
According to the Armenian seismologists, earthquake in Yerevan and the nearest settlements was 3-5 points. Epicenter of the tremors was in 150-160 km from the borders of Armenia. -0--
