Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan informed about his resignation in his official page of social network Facebook.
YEREVAN, October 28. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Karen Karapetyan informed about his resignation in his official page of social network Facebook.
Karapetyan’s page is very popular and has over 20 thousand active readers.
The last two days supporters of the City Mayor have left messages on Karapetyan’s page expressing regret over his possible resignation.
“Dear residents of Yerevan! Dear colleagues! I have submitted a resignation letter. It is due to transfer to another job and some personal reasons and I do not want to overload you”, said Karapetyan.
He said that it was difficult for him to carry out such a decision, and despite the rumors, it is not related to any political or inter-authority contradictions.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the President of Armenia, Republican Party and the Elderly Council for the trust towards me that I have tries to prove being on the post of the City Mayor. I also thank all the Yerevan residents, the team of Yerevan Municipality, all the organizations which have supported our initiatives and programs”, he said.
He also apologized for the unfinished works.
Karen Karapetyan was selected Yerevan Mayor by the Elderly Council upon the proposal of the President of Armenia on December 17, 2010. Prior to his appointment, he was the General Director of ArmRosgazprom (shareholders are: Gazprom and Government of Armenia which is a monopolist in the delivery and distribution of Russian natural gas in domestic market of Armenia.-0-
