Armenia’s president approves new staff of CEC

Armenia’s President Robert Kocharyan approved the new staff of the Central Election Commission on August 3, 2007. The President’s press service reported that the decree was signed in accordance with the norms of the Election Code.
YEREVAN, August 3. /ARKA/. Armenia’s President Robert Kocharyan approved the new staff of the Central Election Commission on August 3, 2007.
The President’s press service reported that the decree was signed in accordance with the norms of the Election Code.
According to the decree, Garegin Azaryan, previous Chairman of the CEC, was appointed the President’s representative in the CEC, Abraham Bakhchagulyan, previous CEC Deputy Chairman, was appointed the representative of the Republican Party of Armenia. Hamlet Abrahamyan remains the representative of the ARF Dashnaktsiutiun, Sona Sargsyan – the “Orinats Yerkir” Party, Haroutiun Shahbazyan became the representative of the “Prosperous Armenia” Party and Zoya Tadevosyan – the “Heritage” Party.
Ashot Abovyan and Karen Poladyan will represent the CEC judicial department.
The President’s decree will come into force on August 6, 2007, on the day of the first session of the new CEC. During the session, the Commission members will elect the CEC Chairman. L.M. –0--
