Steady dialogue needed between Armenian ruling coalition and opposition

YEREVAN, August 15. /ARKA/. A steady dialogue is needed between Armenian ruling coalition and opposition, Republican MP Galust Saakyan said Wednesday at a press conference.

“All political parties should establish a dialogue with each other. There are many strategic problems in need of joint solutions”, he said.

Saakyan said that the current summer is singled out for political parties’ vigorous activeness ahead of the 2008 presidential elections.

“It is necessary to work with the population. Not everything in Armenia runs in due way – there are many problems waiting for their solutions”, the Republican lawmaker said.
Saakyan stressed the importance of the efforts to nominate a candidate favorable for both the coalition and the opposition.

“If such a solution is not found, the number of candidates can reach 10. It means the president won’t be elected in one round”, he said.

Armenian PM Serge Sargsyan, Orinats Yerkir party leader Arthur Baghdasaryan, National-Democratic Union leader Vazgen Manukyan, New Times party chairman Aram Karapetyan, Marxists’ leader David Hakobyan and People Party head Tigran Karapetyan are among those politicians who have already voiced their intention to run for presidency.
