51st forum of International union of judges to be held in Armenia in Sep 2008

The 51st forum of International Union of Judges will for the first time be held in Armenia and the CIS territory in September 2008.
YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. The 51st forum of International Union of Judges will for the first time be held in Armenia and the CIS territory in September 2008.

Press secretary of the Cassation Court of Armenia Alina Yengoyan told ARKA that 350-400 judges from various countries of the world will arrive at Armenia to participate in the forum.

She said that the decision of conducting the forum in Armenia was made in the course of the jubilee 50th session of the International Union of Judges, which was held in September 23-27 in Trondheime (Norway) and the delegation of Armenia’s Union of Judges also participated in it.

“Besides, Armenia such countries as Spain, Romania, Morocco and Kazakhstan also pretended for conducting the 51st forum, however, after the preliminary study of the applications and secret ballot, the Central Board of the Union elected Armenia for holding the next forum,” Yengoyan said.

The International Union of Judges was founded in Salzburg (Austria) in 1953. At present the Union united 69 national associations in five continents.

In 2005, Armenia became the 68th member of the International Union of Judges. L.M. –0—
