YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. The Armenian opposition party Country of Law (CLP) calls on the RA Central Electoral Commission (CEC) and law-enforcement agencies to regulate the election process.

The party’s statement provided to ARKA says that after 3:00 p.m. “an atmosphere of terror, threats and scuffles formed at different polling stations. Numerous ballot-box stuffing cases and other violations were recorded,” says the statement.

The party claims that party members are subjected to violence at different polling stations, voters are driven out, which is followed by ballot-box stuffing.

“Moreover, election bribes are being offered in different districts,” the party claims.

The RA Prosecutor General’s Office reports that the Country of Law reported facts of ballot-box stuffing, which, however, were repudiated by CLP representative themselves after an examination.

Specifically, responding to an inquiry made by Prosecutor of the Erebuni and Nubarashen communities E. Martirosyan, CLR representatives pointed out that they received information on ballot-box stuffing by telephone from the Heritage Party.

“However, later, the CLP representative Nazik Ohanyan reported that no facts of this kind were recorded,” says a statement of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office.

The presidential election has been held in Armenia.

1,354,644 people or 57.14% of voters had participated in the voting by 5:00 p.m. local time.
About 14,000 observers representing 39 local and six international organizations are monitoring the presidential election. –0--
