YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. The activities of the RA Central Electoral Commission (CEC) were open and transparent, said Alexandr Torshin, CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Mission head.

“CEC sittings were held with the participation of international observers, authorized representatives of presidential candidates, local NGO representatives, journalists, and mass media made prompt coverage of decisions made,” he said.

Having visited all the district commissions, the CIS observers said their activities were broadly fair.
Observations of the activities of electoral commissions testify to the transparency of the electoral process, according to Torshin.

The CIS Mission called yesterday’s presidential election in Armenia free and transparent, and “certain violations recorded during the election campaign were not on a mass scale, had a technical character and did not influence the election outcome.”

The CIS observation mission Arrived in Armenia on January 22. The mission included 193 accredited international observers from the CIS and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and Russia and the CIS Executive Committee.

14,000 observers from 39 local and six international organizations observed the February 19 presidential election in Armenia. As on February 20, 11:52, RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsian took 52.86 per cent of the votes. –0—
