Dashnaktsutiun: Armenian authorities should reconsider their surroundings

27.02.2008, 03:13
Armenian authorities should reconsider their surroundings, member of ARF Dashnaktsutiun Vahan Hovhannisian said.

YEREVAN, February 26. /ARKA/. Armenian authorities should reconsider their surroundings, member of ARF Dashnaktsutiun Vahan Hovhannisian said.

“The authorities should see who they are resting upon. The authorities should ask what they have done if so many people support the opposition-minded ex-president Ter-Petrosian. It means something is wrong and one should acknowledge this,” Hovhannisian said.

According to him, on the one hand the authorities are responsible for most part of the election frauds, but on the other hand the opposition should admit that most part of its supporters are the authors and the designers of these violations.

The same Gagik Jangirian (former Deputy Prosecutor General – ARKA) is an engineer of an advanced machine of election irregularities, whereas today this man is speaking of justice vigorously, Hovhannisian said. Both approaches are exacerbated, he added.

He also stressed that Levon Ter-Pettrosian and his surroundings are the main authors of the crime when the presidential elections of 1996 were rigged and that they were the ones who started the election fraud machine they are trying to fight against now.

Since February 20 rallies, sit-ins and student walkouts have been held by the ex-president-led opposition in the center of Yerevan. The initiators and participants of the opposition actions protest against the results of the February 19 presidential elections published by the Central Electoral Commission.

According to the final results of the elections published by the Central Electoral Commission on February 24, Serge Sargsian with 52.82% of the votes is the winner followed by the ex-president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosian who obtained 21.5%. N.V. –0--
