All entry and exit border control points are under the control of the Armenian border troops – Pashinyan

YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Since March 1, 2025, all entry and exit border control points in Armenia are under the control of the Armenian border troops, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
“This is an extremely important event that should be highlighted,” he said during today’s government Q&A session in parliament.
Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the Russian border troops for performing this function at Armenian checkpoints since Armenia gained independence.
“I would like to express my satisfaction that we are now able to perform this sovereign function,” he said.
On July 31, 2024, Russian border guards handed over the border control point at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport to the Armenian side. According to the Armenian National Security Service, they were deployed there under the 1992 agreement between Armenia and Russia, as well as on the state border between Armenia and Turkey and between Armenia and Iran.
On October 8, 2024, it became known that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed that from January 1, 2025, the border troops of the Armenian National Security Service will participate in the protection of the state borders with Iran and Turkey. It was specified that only Armenian border guards will serve at checkpoints on the border with Iran. -0-
