Andranik Simonyan appointed director of the National Security Service of Armenia

YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. Andranik Simonyan has been appointed director of the National Security Service of Armenia.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed the corresponding decision on Saturday, by another decision dismissing Simonyan from the post of deputy director of the NSS.
Simonyan has been acting director of the NSS since June 18, 2025, following the decision to resign Armen Abazyan.
Andranik Simonyan was born on October 10, 1989 in the city of Hoktemberyan. In 2009, he graduated from the bachelor's degree in law at the RA Police Academy, and in 2013 - from the master's degree in law at the RA Public Administration Academy.
In 2009-2020 worked in the Legal Expertise Department of the Legal Department of the RA Police, as an operative in the Third Department (for combating crimes in the financial and credit system, money laundering and terrorist financing) of the First Department (for combating corruption and crimes against economic activity) of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the RA Police, as a prosecutor in the Prosecutor's Office of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan, as a judge of the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Lori region.
On March 26, 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, and on March 31, 2021 - Deputy Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia.
He holds the military rank of Major General. Candidate of Legal Sciences. Awards: Medal "For Services to the Fatherland", II degree (2023).
