YEREVAN, September 29. /ARКА/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and PACE President Theodoros Roussopoulos reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing dialogue and the enhancement of practical cooperation during a meeting in Strasbourg, as reported by the government press service.

In discussing the Armenia-EU cooperation agenda, particular emphasis was placed on the reforms undertaken to foster democratic institutions, safeguard human rights, and reinforce the rule of law. Pashinyan highlighted the Armenian government's willingness to maintain effective collaboration with the structures of the Council of Europe.

The parties also addressed their working relationship with PACE and their collaboration in monitoring formats. The interlocutors underscored the significance of strengthening the Armenia-CoE partnership for both institutional resilience and the integration processes into the European legal framework.

Pashinyan reiterated that Armenia appreciates the Council of Europe's role in advocating for peace in the region, promoting fundamental freedoms, and improving the effectiveness of the judicial system.

Pashinyan and Roussopoulos exchanged perspectives on regional and international matters. The interlocutors acknowledged the initialing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8 and expressed optimism that the establishment of peace would provide a new and substantial impetus for the development of cooperation and the promotion of stability in the region.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is in Strasbourg on a working visit on September 28-30 to participate in the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The visit includes also meetings with Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset, President of the European Court of Human Rights Mattias Guyomar, and Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Michael O’Flaherty. On September 30, Prime Minister Pashinyan will deliver a speech at the plenary session of the fourth session of PACE.-0-
