Armenia expects Azerbaijan to respond to two peace treaty proposals – Armen Grigoryan

YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. Armenia has submitted its proposals on a peace treaty to the Azerbaijani side and is awaiting a response from official Baku, said Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, on Thursday.

"We are talking about two articles on which we have not yet reached a final agreement. We have publicly discussed these two issues and think to find solutions," Grigoryan told journalists at the government briefing.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated in early December last year that Armenia and Azerbaijan had made progress in the peace agreement negotiations, noting that the parties had already agreed on 15 out of the 17 articles of the preamble and the draft agreement. He emphasized that with sufficient political will, the agreement could be quickly finalized and signed.

Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev mentioned that one of the disagreements involves the non-deployment of third-country forces on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, while the second concerns the withdrawal of lawsuits filed against each other in international courts.
