Armenia has not withdrawn any of its international lawsuits against Azerbaijan – representative
YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. Armenia has not retracted any of its lawsuits lodged against Azerbaijan in international courts, Karen Andreasyan, Armenia's representative for international legal matters, informed reporters.
"Nothing of the kind is being discussed. Should this occur, I will certainly notify you. Our office has not received any proposals, directives, orders, or decisions from the government or the National Assembly concerning any concessions in legal actions," Karen Andreasyan said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has consistently expressed Armenia's willingness to withdraw international lawsuits against Azerbaijan following the signing of a peace agreement.
He emphasized that it is essential not only to forgo the resolution of disputes in international courts but also to conclude the litigation itself.
This point is also referenced in the draft peace agreement that was initialed on August 11, 2025, by the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is currently reviewing Armenia's lawsuit against Azerbaijan, which was filed on September 28, 2023, demanding that the country eradicate all forms of racial discrimination due to its longstanding state-sponsored propaganda of hatred and Armenophobia.
Yerevan also anticipates that Baku will refrain from imposing punitive actions against the former leaders of Artsakh, who are currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
Armenia further insists on preventing the demolition of and modifications to Armenian cultural heritage sites in the region, including memorials dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
The ECHR is presently reviewing four interstate complaints lodged by Armenia against Azerbaijan: concerning crimes perpetrated during the 44-day conflict in Artsakh (September-November 2020); unlawful trials of captured Armenians in Azerbaijan; military assaults and the occupation of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces (May 2021 - November 2022); the blockade of the Lachin corridor (December 2022 - September 2023); and infringements of the rights of the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh.-0-
