Armenia moving step by step towards delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, May 5. /ARKA/. Armenia is moving step by step towards delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan, said Armenian NA Speaker Alen Simonyan.
"Currently, work is being carried out in this logic at the level of the relevant border delimitation commissions, purely technical discussions are taking place," Simonyan noted at a briefing on Monday.
He explained that there is no disagreement on the issue of border delimitation. "We have stated that this will be a section from Georgia to the Iranian border, based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, which is a very big victory for Armenia. This is our victory, and it should not be the subject of speculation on the part of Russia, the United States or France," Simonyan said.
On the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called the delimitation and demarcation process that had begun in the Tavush region successful - in particular, near the village of Kirants, which borders Azerbaijan.
On August 30, 2024, Yerevan and Baku signed a regulation (regulations) on the joint work of the Armenian and Azerbaijani commissions on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border. On October 24, the document was ratified in Yerevan and Baku by the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The regulations provide for the regulation of procedural issues between the two countries after the signing of the agreement on the state border.
Following the meeting held on January 16, 2025 The commissions on state border delimitation issues chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan and Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev agreed to begin work on delimiting the state border from the northern section - from the area of the junction of the borders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia and further in the southern direction - from north to south, to the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan with Iran.
