Armenia is striving to become a member of the European Union, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

YEREVAN, July 16. /ARKA/. Armenia is striving to become a member of the European Union, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"We have agreed with our European colleagues that this is not an easy process that requires the consent of all members. The country must meet certain standards," he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to Pashinyan, as part of this process, reforms are being carried out in Armenia to meet European standards.
"There are two options: the country is either accepted into the EU or not. Even if not, Armenia rises to the level of European standards," he said.
The Prime Minister said that during his latest visit to Brussels, the process of visa liberalization with the EU was discussed and assessed it positively.
On March 26, 2025, the National Assembly of Armenia approved the draft law on the beginning of the country's accession to the European Union. On April 4, the law was signed by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
As the head of the National Assembly Committee on European Integration, Arman Egoyan, stated, this bill simply expresses the will of the Armenian people; at the moment, the submission of an application for membership of the republic in the EU is not envisaged.-0-
