Armenia has developed a concept for the creation of a new independent authorized body for personal data protection, which will be based on improved legislation and practices.
YEREVAN, October 31. /ARКА/. Armenia has developed a concept for the creation of a new independent authorized body for personal data protection, which will be based on improved legislation and practices.
According to the government press service, the document was presented at a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on reforming the personal data protection system.
It was emphasized that the reforms being implemented will also contribute to the fulfillment of international obligations, including the visa liberalization process with the EU.
Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan noted that the experience of other countries was analyzed in developing the concept.
Meeting participants discussed issues related to the development of an action plan for implementing the concept, including a needs assessment, stakeholder engagement, and the development of a legislative package.
Pashinyan emphasized the importance of creating such a structure, which, in his opinion, should enhance the right to personal data protection, contribute to the development of specialists' potential, and raise public awareness of personal data protection.
