YEREVAN, September 11. /ARКА/. The Constitutional Amendments Council is stepping up efforts to ensure that work on the text is completed by the deadline, Armenian Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan told reporters on Thursday.

In May 2025, she said that the development of the new version of the Constitution was in progress and would be completed within 10 months.

“New documents regarding the constitutional amendments have already been sent to the Council members. We intend to hold a meeting next week. In addition, we plan to hold another meeting of the Council in September. As for the reference to the Declaration of Independence (which includes a provision on the reunification of Artsakh with Armenia), this issue is not currently being discussed,” Galyan said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has consistently stated that the Armenian Constitution does not contain territorial claims against Azerbaijan or any other country, while the Azerbaijani Constitution contains territorial claims against Armenia.

As a prerequisite for signing a peace treaty, Azerbaijan insists on amendments to the Constitution of Armenia and the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group. -0-
