Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Retorts to Kocharyan's Statement on Washington Meeting's Zero Results

YEREVAN, October 9. /ARКА/. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan addressed the comments made by former President Robert Kocharyan, who claimed that Armenia had achieved no results and faced issues stemming from the Washington meeting on August 8, 2025.
"Armenia has been granted the chance to foster a peaceful and stable region and has initiated this endeavor. We have the opportunity to reopen all communication channels, and discussions are currently taking place with our American partners. We are hopeful and confident that this process will progress positively. We view the developments following the Washington Declaration as favorable," Kostanyan stated during a press briefing on Thursday.
In response to statements made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who again used the 'Zangezur Corridor' terminology, Kostanyan emphasized that there is no project, including any communications initiative, known as 'the Zangezur Corridor' on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
"What the Azerbaijani authorities refer to as communication routes traversing their territory is their concern. This information is being conveyed to all partners, including those from Azerbaijan," Kostanyan remarked.
He also indicated that efforts towards a peace agreement with Azerbaijan are ongoing.
"Armenia is prepared to sign and ratify this agreement," Kostanyan concluded.
The seven-point declaration signed following the trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington includes the initialing of the “Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan”, the joint application to the OSCE on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, the unblocking of regional communications within the framework of the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of countries and on the basis of reciprocity, as well as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project.-0-
