Armenia's Minister of Economy Describes TRIPP as Security Initiative

YEREVAN, September 22. /ARKA/. According to Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, TRIPP (the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) is fundamentally a security assurance rather than merely an economic endeavour.

Papoyan remarked, "The most significant economic benefits will not arise solely from the revival of railway services, but rather from the investment of a prominent American corporation in Armenia. This is a crucial element for our nation," he conveyed to journalists following the 7th Congress of the ruling Civil Contract Party last Saturday.

He revealed that discussions with American stakeholders are set to take place soon in the United States, after which investment inflows are expected to commence.

"An official invitation has been extended, and I will attend," Papoyan confirmed.

He emphasized that TRIPP is integral to the concept of the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace [roject.

"By positioning ourselves as a pivotal point in communications, we are aligning ourselves with global interests. Our security will be enhanced as we facilitate communication and international objectives. Should international freight transit through Armenia under the protection of the United States, these nations will respond to any threats to ensure the safe passage of goods," Papoyan articulated.

He also mentioned that the initial tranche of $145 million has already been received.

"These funds are allocated for design initiatives and border infrastructure. We will deliberate on future tranches. While Armenia is capable of making these investments independently, we prefer that the most powerful nations in the world also gain from them, thereby ensuring our security," Papoyan concluded.-0-
