Armenia should significantly benefit from resolving economic, transport, and logistical problems in the South Caucasus, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. Armenia should significantly benefit from resolving economic, transport, and logistical problems in the South Caucasus, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"Our contacts over the past year at the highest, political, and parliamentary levels have developed steadily and very intensively, and we are interested in this. Armenia is our ally, a strategic partner, and we see how difficult the situation in the South Caucasus is," Lavrov said Thursday at a meeting with Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan in Moscow.
The Russian minister expressed hope that the groundwork agreed upon in 2020-2022 by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia remains relevant.
As Lavrov noted, the implementation of these agreements is primarily important for resolving the region's economic, transport, and logistical problems, and Armenia stands to benefit significantly from these decisions.
"All barriers to the normal functioning of the entire region as a unified whole must be removed. We are prepared for this; our deputy prime ministers are in regular contact within the framework of the decisions made based on the leaders' agreements within the Trilateral Working Group," the minister added.
