The Armenian government will soon receive an Action Plan for the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU, which will serve as a significant impetus for further processes. This was announced by RA Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan.

YEREVAN, October 31. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will soon receive an Action Plan for the liberalization of the visa regime with the EU, which will serve as a significant impetus for further processes. This was announced by RA Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan.

According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Interior, at a meeting with a delegation led by Adrien Kiraly, Director-General for Eastern Neighborhood and Turkey at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood, the Minister highlighted the active steps and tangible results achieved towards visa liberalization.

Sargsyan also noted the introduction of a biometric system in Armenia, which will enable citizens to receive new passports and identification cards starting in 2026. The Minister emphasized that work on developing a Migration Strategy is ongoing, and a concept document will be ready by the end of the year, adding that work on drafting legislation on preventing discrimination is also in the active phase.

Furthermore, it was noted that a Unified Crime Prevention Strategy will be adopted in Armenia for the first time, and work in this area is also in the active phase.

The EU representative, for her part, emphasized the importance of an effective bilateral partnership and expressed readiness to continue it.

In terms of strengthening cooperation, the appointment of an Armenian liaison officer to Europol was emphasized; the candidacy will be announced shortly.

Issues related to ongoing cooperation programs in border management and policing were also discussed.
