Armenia and Belarus set to step up military cooperation
YEREVAN, November 28. /ARKA/ Armenian-Belarusian relations in the defense sphere have great potential, Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan said during his visit to Belarus, the press service of the Armenian defense ministry said.

Sargsyan noted that the countries have mutual obligations stemming from their membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), manifested in the principle 'the threat against one of the members of the organization is perceived as a threat against all its members."

As a clear indication of effective cooperation within the framework of the CSTO, Sargsyan pointed to the recent large-scale military exercises that took place in Armenia with the active participation of Belarusian military units.

The Defense Minister of Belarus Andrei Ravkov was said to have expressed confidence that the visit of the Armenian defense minister will become an impetus for the development of bilateral relations. According to Ravkov, the Armenian-Belarusian relations are based on mutual trust, respect and friendship between the peoples.

After the meeting the defense ministers of the two countries signed a number of documents, including the "Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus for 2018". -0-
