Armenia and EU develop visa liberalization negotiations plan - MFA
YEREVAN, November 5. /ARKA/. An EU delegation is visiting Yerevan on November 5-6 to develop a plan for visa liberalization negotiations, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan stated during a discussion of the draft state budget for 2025 in parliament.
During the discussion, it was noted that a mandatory condition for liberalization is the introduction of a universal health insurance system, which, according to the draft state budget of Armenia, will not be implemented until 2025. In response, Hovhannisyan stated that this issue must be addressed sooner or later. "I am confident that we will find financial solutions to advance this crucial matter," he said.
Armenia-EU Cooperation
The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Armenia and the EU, which took approximately three years to ratify, entered into force on March 1, 2021.
In September 2024, the EU-Armenia visa liberalization dialogue was officially launched, and work is underway on a new comprehensive document titled the "New Partnership Agenda."
On October 25, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan established an interagency working group to coordinate activities under the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This group will focus on developing an action plan for the government related to the Armenia-EU visa liberalization dialogue.
