Armenia considers relations with Iran special, not opposed to contacts with the West - Pashinyan

YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. Armenia attaches special importance to its relations with Iran without contrasting them with contacts with the West, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Wednesday, speaking at a parliamentary session.
According to him, relations with Iran, which has ancient traditions of statehood, are based on natural benefits, which makes them special.
"At the same time, we did not, do not and will not contrast our relations with the West with our relations with Iran. By and large, we have adopted this position within the framework of geopolitical perception. This is a rather complicated but solvable problem, we just need to build our foreign policy based on the logic of sovereignty, and some nuances will surely be seen," Pashinyan noted.
The Prime Minister pointed out that two of Armenia's four neighbors are candidates for EU membership.
"Georgia received this status a couple of months ago, and I would like to congratulate brotherly Georgia once again. It is gratifying to record that the declaration signed in Tbilisi, by which the relations between our countries were brought to the level of strategic partnership, reflects this new reality," Pashinyan said. --0--
