YEREVAN, October 22. /ARKA/. Armenia and the European Union intend to sign a joint document in November in Vilnius, at an Eastern Partnership summit, Armenian Economy Minister Avanesyan said Tuesday at a briefing given ahead of the 14th session of the Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee.

“Development of an effective cooperation agenda is being discussed now, and we hope a document outlining ground for further cooperation between Armenia and the European Union will be ready before the Vilnius summit,” he said.

The minister said that at its session the committee will discuss EU-Armenia cooperation prospects in the context of Armenia’s intention to join the Russia-led Customs Union and stressed that relations between Armenia and the European Union remain good.

“A wide range of issues related to deepening and expanding the bilateral relationship will be discussed at the session, particularly trade and economic ties,” he said. “Some political issues will be discussed as well.”

In early September, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, made a joint statement, according to which Armenia has decided to join the Customs Union and to take part in formation of the Eurasian Union in the future.

The announcement came as Armenia was poised to sign the Association Agreement with the European Union aimed at making European Union’s ties with Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova and Georgia closer. ---0----
