YEREVAN, May 13. /ARKA/. David Tonoyan, the first Armenian deputy defense minister, received Thursday Thomas Lenk, the head of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the OSCE, the press office of the Armenian defense ministry reports.
Andrzej Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of OSCE CiO, was present at the meeting as well.
Things in Karabakh conflict zone and probable future processes were discussed at the meeting.
On April 2, 2016, Azerbaijan launched military assaults along the entire perimeter of its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh. Four days later a cease-fire was arranged.
Tonoyan informed Lenk about this four-day military campaign run by Azerbaijan against Karabakh and about the current situation on the contact line between Azerbaijani and Karabakh armed forces as well as on Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
Tonoyan attracted hi guests’ attention to the fact that on May 11, in just several hours after completion of the OSCE Mission’s monitoring on the contact line’s section near Talish village a Karabakh army serviceman was killed on that very place in the fire opened by the opposite side.
“This incident shows that OSCE monitoring is not effective and Azerbaijan keeps breaching the ceasefire regime,” he said adding that introduction of international investigation mechanisms would ensure prevention of such incidents.
The allegation made by Azerbaijan that Armenia has used white phosphorous shells were discussed at the meeting as well.
“Appearance of such information shows again that international investigation mechanisms are necessary on the contact line for prevention of dissemination of such allegations,” the defense ministry says in its press release. --0----
