Armenia is interested in deepening relations with Lebanon in all spheres, President Serzh Sargsyan said at a meeting with visiting Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
YEREVAN, February 22. /ARKA/. Armenia is interested in deepening relations with Lebanon in all spheres, President Serzh Sargsyan said at a meeting with visiting Lebanese President Michel Aoun.
"It is a great pleasure and honor for us to receive the President of friendly Lebanon in Armenia, and we are deeply interested in deepening relations with Lebanon in all spheres," Sargsyan was quoted as saying by his press office.
He noted that the visit is opening a new page in the relations between the two countries, and, despite the fact that interstate relations are only 25 years old, the friendship of Armenian and Lebanese peoples is centuries ld.
"We are deeply grateful to the people and leadership of Lebanon for their caring attitude towards our compatriots who have become full-fledged citizens of Lebanon, preserving their national identity, and of course we are grateful to the authorities of Lebanon, including the parliament, for recognizing the fact of the Armenian Genocide. This is a very important contribution," Sargsyan said.
The President of Lebanon expressed gratitude for the invitation and considered it a great honor to visit Armenia.
"In my delegation there are representatives of the Armenian community of Lebanon - the Minister of Tourism, the head of the Dashnaktsutyun Party, MP Mr. Bagratunyan. I must say that the Armenian community has made a great contribution to the development and prosperity of Lebanon,’ said Aoun.
According to him, his visit is aimed at further strengthening of relations between Armenia and Lebanon. "We hope that relations between Armenia and Lebanon will continue to develop and deepen. There are many areas in which we can work, and this will be for the benefit of our two countries," Aoun said. -0-
