YEREVAN, June 20. /ARKA/. Armenia and Lithuania signed a memorandum on mutual understanding of questions related to the EU, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.

First, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a separate meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, and then the two continued their meeting in an expanded format.

A wide range of issues of both bilateral cooperation and interaction within the EU, as well as regional cooperation, were discussed.

During a joint press conference, Mirzoyan stated that important progress was  in cooperation with the EU.

“We acknowledge that all this was achieved thanks to the consistent support of our partners from the US, EU, EU member states, including Lithuania,” Mirzoyan noted.

Mirzoyan said Armenia is deepening its partnership with the European Union, and work is currently underway on the implementation of the Armenia Sustainability and Growth Plan and a new partnership agenda.

“We also highly appreciate Lithuania’s contribution to the work of the EU observation mission in Armenia. I am confident that we will be able to achieve great results, in particular, launching a dialogue on the issue of visa liberalization,” Mirzoyan noted.

Mirzoyan also said that Armenia and Lithuania are committed to lasting friendship and cooperation based on solidarity, common values and the goals of long-term prosperity of the two countries.

“Today we reaffirmed our commitment to deepen our bilateral ties and touched upon a number of issues related to the bilateral agenda, IT, energy, economics, tourism, culture and education. We are committed to developing cooperation in the economic sphere, recognizing the potential for trade and investment,” Mirzoyan noted.

The Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized that in the field of bilateral partnership, solidarity in difficult times is important.
