Armenia is located in the region which is the epicenter of the international agenda, Alexei Martynov, director of the International Institute for New States, told journalists on Thursday.
YEREVAN, October 15. /ARKA/. Armenia is located in the region which is the epicenter of the international agenda, Alexei Martynov, director of the International Institute for New States, told journalists on Thursday.
«Armenia is now in the epicenter of the international despite it is mentioned by media not frequently,» he said.
«If we look at a map, we'll see Iraq, Turkey and Syria nearby. Today the center of international politics in this region and we are concerned over this as friends and allies. Russia is becoming the main driver of peace processes in this region and in the world, and even the West already admits this. The world is no longer unipolar.»
Speaking about the Eurasian Economic Union, he noted that the union is criticized by many, but integration in the union doesn't mean integration into Russia's economy and doesn't mean Russia's rule, since all the participants of this process are equal.
Martynov said that thanks to this integration Armenia pays a very cheap price for energy resources and duty-free access to Russian, Kazakh and Belarusian markets.
«The Eurasian Union just one year old, and it is too early to summarize results or conclude whether it is beneficial to be a member of the union or not, but this is time for thinking how to use this model to get advantages,» he said.
