Yerevan may expand its participation in international peacekeeping missions, Major General Arthur Simonyan, Armenian peacekeeping brigade commander, told journalists on Tuesday.
YEREVAN, November 16. /ARKA/. Yerevan may expand its participation in international peacekeeping missions, Major General Arthur Simonyan, Armenian peacekeeping brigade commander, told journalists on Tuesday.
The mission in Lebanon is though to be expanded, he said.
In his words, 190 Armenian servicemen are now in four countries for peacekeeping mission. In particular, two contingents of Armenian peacekeepers are deployed in Afghanistan – 65 servicemen in Mazar-i- Sharif and 56 in Kabul as part of Germany’s peacekeeping division, 32 Armenian servicemen are in Kosovo under the command of NATO and other 32 are in Lebanon as part of UNIFIL.
Besides, one Armenian officer has been dispatched to the Lebanon-Israel border as observer and another, communication officer, is taking part in the UN stabilization mission in Mali. --0---
